Bonsignorio

My name is Anna Bonsignorio. I’m an Italian illustrator currently based in Edinburgh.

I grew up on the west coast of Italy, where the salt air, the colours of the sea, and the warmth of the sun shaped my way of seeing the world. My work is characterised by a delicate balance between abstraction, figuration, bold simplicity and thoughtful detail. My art reflects a desire to create a connection through visual storytelling, often touching on sensitive topics with empathy and care.

 

My work is rooted in observation and emotion, quiet gestures, fleeting expressions, poetic moments. I draw from my love of photography, music, and literature, where words often spark images and images carry the weight of memory.

 

I’m passionate about transformation, both personal and collective. Through my illustration, I explore themes of inner growth, emotional authenticity, and human connection. I’m drawn to visual storytelling in all its forms, editorial, publishing, personal projects, and I believe in art that resonates deeply, whether it whispers or shouts.

 

In 2024, I graduated with First-Class Honours in Illustration from Edinburgh College of Art. I have since collaborated with clients such as International Justice Mission, Children in Scotland, the Coalition of Care and Support Providers in Scotland, The University of Edinburgh, Strathberry, TravelTech, Edinburgh Book Festival, Sanitree, and Crumble magazine.
